According to the account of the person who filmed the incident, the female tiger ST-3 climbed up a tree to ambush a leopard (approximately 1 year old) taking refuge. The tiger then swiftly pounced on the prey from a distance of over 3 meters.

The two ferocious carnivores tumbled down a small hill and engaged in a “fight” for a few minutes. Shortly after, the battle quickly came to an end, with the tiger overpowering and capturing its adversary in its powerful jaws.

According to Dinal J. S Samarasinghe, a leopard researcher, “Tigers are apex predators and often do not submit to other closely related species. Tigers and leopards will avoid each other as much as possible, but when they happen to encounter one another, the larger species is likely to be the stronger one.”
